Discover for yourself
A toddler can explore materials in their own way. Sorting large, safe objects, finding matching colours or leaving marks on paper: a simple idea often offers plenty of room to experiment.
Find the colours
Set out two large sheets of paper in different colours. Together, find large, suitable objects in similar colours and place them alongside. Name the colours without expecting a correct answer. Watching and moving things around are part of it too.
Stay with your child and choose materials they can use safely. Small parts are unsuitable if they put things in their mouths.
